Socioeconomic Analyst - Mid-Region Council of Governments - Albuquerque, NM

The Mid-Region Council of Governments seeks an entry to mid-level full-time analyst to join its innovative team of transportation planning professionals at the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

Responsibilities

Duties include: 1) collaborating with staff and seeking best practices in data creation and analysis, 2) developing methods to explore population, housing, land use, employment, and transportation data, 3) collecting and visualizing large datasets, 4) population, land use, and economic forecasting, and 5) outreach to local planners, engineers, economic developers and real estate professionals to collaborate and share data in support of the transportation planning process. On-the-job learning is central to the success of this position; it is not necessary for applicants to have work experience in all areas.

Skills

Analytical curiosity, initiative, and problem-solving skills are the most important skills for this position. The ideal candidate will have experience related to desktop geographic information systems (GIS) such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and / or QGIS, experience working with tabular datasets in Excel, and analytical skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with demographic or economic data, have data presentation skills, and/or experience with SQL databases, Python or R programming language or Tableau.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, economics, mathematics, or a related field. Master’s Degree or at least two (2) years of professional experience related to the responsibilities and skills listed above is preferred.

Salary/Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with experience and is within the range of $49,920 - $59,280 annually. This position offers full benefits including health, dental and vision coverage, vacation and sick leave, group life insurance and enrollment in the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) of New Mexico. Additional benefits are optional including flexible spending plans and gym memberships. Due to the collaborative nature of the MPO staff this position does not offer a remote option.
